When Betsy Rosenblatt Rosso was eight years old, she launched a neighborhood newspaper that she typed on her dad’s typewriter and sold door-to-door for a dime. Betsy knew then she wanted to be a writer. Since then she has honed her editorial craft significantly but maintained her commitment to telling stories that engage and matter to the community.
Owner of Rosso Writing LLC, Betsy is a writer and editor who helps nonprofit organizations and small businesses tell their compelling stories so the people and communities they serve can thrive. Betsy provides the guidance and expertise clients need to improve the way they communicate with funders, clients, customers, volunteers, and other supporters.
Betsy has produced a variety of top-quality, engaging communications materials, including websites, electronic and print newsletters, brochures, grant proposals, blogs, press releases, articles, information kits, and social media. She has worked with diverse clients and is skilled at interviewing and profiling clients, staff members, volunteers, and others who are the heart and soul of an organization and whose stories exemplify the organization’s mission.
While Betsy possesses particular expertise in writing about children, youth, families, education, and health, she is also well-versed in the areas of housing, human services, immigrants, nonprofit governance, philanthropy, and the arts.
What sets Betsy’s business apart from the competition? I am a great listener and synthesizer and can quickly understand what clients need and how to effectively tell their stories. I work efficiently and am always accountable to the client, flexible as their needs change, and come up with exactly the words they’ve been looking for but couldn’t articulate themselves. I’m also skilled at transforming jargon and messy language into clear, sparkling, compelling prose.
Who is her ideal client? I would love to work with national nonprofits that are doing great work, understand the need for high-quality communications—and have the means to pay for it.
